Imagine a car with two steering wheels and two sets of pedals. Wouldn't that be fun?

The answer is no. You’d be dead.

If you host a podcast with more than one person or you have guests on your show then your podcast is in danger of being out of control. You need a Captain Kirk.

In this episode I explain why it’s important to have a designated show driver, what they should be doing and how to decide who it should be (without egos getting in the way). And, if you’re flying solo but you have guests - you need to pay attention too because if you don’t you might just look up and discover your guest has taken the wheel. Gasp. Oh, no! Ahh!

CAUTION: This episode is only for those with PODCAST GOALS. If you have a podcast just for fun for you and your friends and your mom...please stop reading this, it’s not for you. Go on, have some fun - I’ll see you next time.

But if your podcast has a purpose - if you have ambitions for your show then listen up. You need a podcast driver! And, you need to figure this out fast or else *spoiler alert* you’re headed for a fiery crash.

In sports, you have a play-by-play announcer and a colour commentator. Your favourite radio morning duo has a driver and passenger. On a plane, there’s a pilot and co-pilot. Knowing your role is crucial. Don’t get me wrong. Every role is just as important as the others but one person has to take the reins and drive your podcast bus down that highway to listener bliss.

In this episode, I’m going to help you figure out what your role is and how to embrace it. In life, there are drivers and there are passengers - who’s to say who’s got the better view?
